What’s With the Need for praise, recognition and approval?

This morning, I realized that I had received a minimum of one heartfelt message every day for the past week sharing the positive impact the book `I Will Always Love You‘ has had on their journey through grief. I LOVE these messages, and they fuel my passion and desire to engage as many people and organizations as possible to help spread the healing words. You see, I KNOW in my heart that the story is impacting lives each time it is read, even when I don’t receive feedback. I have a `sense of knowing that is deep, strong and true when it comes to understanding the importance of the messages in the book. So I wonder when or if the apparent need, whether consciously or subconsciously, for praise, recognition or approval will pass.

In his book Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling,’ Wayne Dyer explains his perspective, which resonates with me.

He shares,

“Inspirational people aren’t interested in winning a popularity contest, especially when those who seek praise and recognition often do so to soothe feelings of insecurity.”

Turned around, this viewpoint means to me that we are invited to fuel feelings of worthiness and purpose regardless of our environment. In doing so, any feelings of insecurity or unworthiness can be replaced with those that we consciously Choose To Choose to embrace.

Takeaways:

To free yourself from the need for praise, recognition and approval, choose to choose thoughts that focus on the qualities of worthiness, purpose and love and allow them to flourish. Choose your thoughts deliberately, with a purpose and choose to thrive in your own world regardless of your surroundings.

Hi! I am Melissa, and I am honored to share this precious moment with you. In case we haven’t met, I thought I’d give you a peek into who I am and perhaps shed some light on why our paths have crossed.

I am a sensitive and loving Soul. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a lover of all sorts of adventures. I am an international best-selling author and an Intuitive Life Coach specializing in self-discovery. After decades of corporate and entrepreneurial experience, I realized my calling was to help people make sense of their lives.

I love helping people find the answers to life’s most challenging questions, including ‘Why is this happening to me?’, ‘How can I recover?’ and ‘How can I create more meaning in my life?’.

I have been described as raw and relatable, and I understand why.  Throughout my life, I have experienced pain, loss, emotional distress, deep disappointments, and extended periods of self-loathing. At one point amid my darkness, I made the choice to find my light. It hit bottom, and I said to myself, enough! That’s enough!

And here we are together! I look forward to whatever the future holds for us! XOXO
